According to BILD, Hamann is thought to have had a poorly voice, hence being sent home. Sky Sports Austria made light of the 59-time Germany international's disappearing act, flashing up a tongue-in-cheek graphic that showed Stankovic being substituted onto the broadcast in place of Hamann.
Despite his enforced absence from the rest of the show, Hamann would have no doubt enjoyed watching his former side dismantle Erik ten Hag's woeful United at the Allianz Arena.
